Safety Advice For All You Movers Out There

Marathon knows moving can be a chore. Which is why we are here to to service all your moving needs . We've offered tips on packing and moving, but when you're getting ready for the move and getting everything together safety is top priority. Don't forget to take care of yourself during the process. So here's a couple of safety tips for you movers.

1. If you're utilities will be cut off, remember to have plenty of water bottles handy.

2. Dress for safety, especially with proper footwear. Shoes should have good tread and protect toes. Work gloves aren't necessary but can help you get a grip on some items.

3. Use proper lifting techniques. Lift with your legs and not your back.

4. Don't over pack boxes. The average moving box will weigh at least twenty pounds when full. Spread heavy items over several boxes and put some light items in with heavier.

5. Pace yourself. The average 2 bedroom apartment will contain 4500-5000 pounds worth of items.

6. Keep a first aid kit handy. Pack a special first aid box and load it last.

7. Secure cords properly so that you don't trip over them
